Company Overview

AfriRemote Labs Limited is a Kenya-incorporated company developing AfriRemoteLabs, a shared scientific infrastructure initiative intended to expand access to authentic laboratory experimentation, scientific instrumentation, technical expertise and research data across Africa. The initiative builds on the September 2026 Africa Remote Laboratory Network concept.

Vision

An Africa where researchers, learners and innovators can access quality scientific instrumentation and experimental opportunities regardless of geography, disability or institutional resources.

Mission

To connect institutions and approved users through secure, inclusive access to physical scientific instruments, supervised remote experiments, interactive simulations, AI-assisted scientific workflows and reproducible research data.

The Challenge

Advanced research instruments are expensive, unevenly distributed and often inaccessible to students and researchers at under-resourced institutions. Shared access can improve equipment utilization and widen participation.

Services and Scientific Scope

The planned network spans Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy and Biotechnology. Its pathways include supervised remote laboratories, interactive educational simulations and physical laboratory collaborations.

Technology and Quality

The proposed platform integrates instrument discovery and booking, permission-controlled remote operation, live experiment observation, measurements and provenance, AI-assisted support and digital twins. Safety approvals, calibration, research integrity, accessibility and secure data handling are essential design principles.

Development Roadmap

The underlying concept proposes a controlled pilot with Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), Kenya, with Physics eLabs-AI as an initial flagship, followed by growth through institutional partnerships. Pilot activities and future services are plans, not claims of currently operational remote instrument access.

Collaboration and Sustainability

AfriRemoteLabs welcomes discussions with universities, research laboratories, educators, scientific instrument suppliers, donors and innovation partners concerning approved instrument sharing, training, equipment access and sustainable infrastructure.

Governance

Board of Directors: Dr. John Onyango Agumba and Dr. Solomon Lugasi Omwoma.
